Yealmpton is
situated between the A379 and the river Yealm that
runs into a stunning estuary with coastal paths and
secluded beaches in the South Hams, an area of outstanding beauty (AONB) in south Devon. Dartmoor and Plymouth are both accessible in 20 minutes. Convenient for the continental ferries to Roscoff and Santander. A spring board to the South West.
There are bus routes to Plymouth, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo. The ‘Mayflower Connection’ gives a weekday daytime hourly service from Plymouth which has rail connection from all parts of the UK. If you are walking the coast path the section from Aveton Gifford to Plymouth can be done as a series of linear walks with the aid of the bus services while based at Yealmpton.

The village has 2 good pubs/eating houses, one voted "The Best Pub in Devon" including a speciality Sea Food restaurant. The original Mother Hubbards cottage of nursery rhyme fame now an atmostpheric bistro. Various shops, Cafe, Garage and petrol station.
